On Thursday, the supreme court agreed to hear the plea against the release of the upcoming Indian period drama movie titled ‘Padmavati‘ outside India. The court will be going to hear the plea on November 28 and they will be seeking the directions to the makers of the Hindi movie ‘Padmavati’ that not to release the movie outside India on December 1.
A Bench compromising Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices A M Khanwilkar and D.Y. Chandrachud said that the court will hear the plea that is alleged that the makers of the movie ‘Padmavati’ have mispresented the Historical facts before the court with regard to that Central Board of Film Certification’s approval on releasing the song and the promo from the movie.
They said that they will take it up on Tuesday and the advocate file a writ petition. An advocate, M.L Sharma says that if the movie is allowed to be released outside India than they will be doing a great damage to the social harmony. Moreover, he also sought the criminal prosecution of the makers of the movie for allegedly mispresenting the facts that the songs and the promos of the movie were cleared by the censor board.
However, the court had dismissed the plea by appealing to delete the certain alleged objectionable scenes from the movie. The Censor Board of Film Certification has not given the certificate to the Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s movie and the court can not injunct a statutory body from doing its duty. According to the reports, one of the respondents had told the court that the movie’s promo was released and because of that, it has got the requisite approval from the censor board.
Mr. Sharma has approached the court that seeking the direction for the removal of all the scenes of alleged character that shows the dream sequence of queen Padmavati along with the Alauddin Khilji from the movie before its release. The makers of the movie have earlier said that they have deferred the release of the movie which was earlier scheduled to release on December 1. Even the sets of the movie were vandalized twice once in Jaipur and then in Kolhapur and the director of the movie Sanjay Leela Bhansali was roughed up by the members of Karni Sena during the Jaipur schedule of the film earlier this year.
The movie ‘Padmavati’ is an upcoming Indian period drama. The movie which is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and jointly produced by Bhansali and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures. The movie features Deepika Padukone in the title role as Rani Padmini, alongside Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji, Shahid Kapoor as MaharajaRawal Ratan Singh, Jim Sarbh, and Aditi Rao Hydari.
