Malayalam film actor, politician, and singer Suresh Gopi is making his comeback to acting after a gap of four years. He has recently joined the sets of music composer-turned-actor Vijay Antony’s upcoming film ‘Thamizharasan’.

The National Award-winning actor was last seen in Shankar’s ‘I’ in the role of Dr. Vasudevan, starring Vikram and Amy Jackson in the lead roles and Gopi played one of the antagonists in the film.

“I don’t tend to repeat my roles in general, but I was too tempted to sign the film because of its content,” Vijay Antony had earlier told Indianexpress.com.

‘Thamizharasan’ is directed by Babu Yogeswaran of Daas fame. The film has Vijay Antony playing the role of a cop who played a police officer in his last film ‘Thimiru Pudichavan’ also.

The film stars Remya Nambeesan, Yogi Babu, Pandiarajan, Mahat Raghavendra among others and also marks the acting debut of director Mohan Raja’s son Pranav Mohan.

Suresh Gopi has worked in over 200 Malayalam films and occasionally appeared in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi films. He first appeared on the big screen in 1965 in ‘Odayil Ninnu’ as a child artist. He got his first lead role in 1986 in ‘Niramulla Raavukal’ at the age of 27. He went to star in several Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Hindi films.

He currently serves as a Member of Parliament (M.P.) in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament.
