Actress Swara Bhaskar’s production house Kahaaniwaaley Entertainment and Media Ventures Pvt Ltd will be making a biopic on Krishna Sen alias Sweety Sen. The actress will be playing the lead role in the yet to be titled movie. The story is based on a woman pretended to be a man and married two women.
The rights have been bought and the pre-production will start soon. The shooting of the film will start this year itself.
Co-owner of the production banner and Swara’s brother Ishaan said, “Having portrayed several unconventional, challenging and bold characters, we were looking for a story idea for Swara that would match the performance potential of her previous films. Krishna Sen’s real-life story is the perfect choice to portray a mysterious real-life character as well as bring a strangely true story to life on the big screen.”
He added: “We want to explore the psychology of this really interesting character. Swara’s ‘bindaas’ attitude and the ability to take on challenging roles make her an ideal choice to play the title role in the biopic.”
The brother-sister duo launched their production banner on January 25 this year. Through her company, Swara aims to support good scripts and filmmakers that have fresh and powerful stories.
“At Kahaaniwaaley, the aim is to support good scripts and filmmakers that have these fresh and powerful stories but they don’t get the right platform to showcase them,” Swara said in a statement.
Before them, film and theatre actor Boman Irani also launched his production house Irani Movietone. Oscar-winning writer of the 2014 film ‘Birdman’, Alexander Dinelaris was invited as a special guest for the launch.
