Taapsee Pannu known for her roles as a strong, independent and empowered women, will be next seen playing the role of a shooter. The film titled ‘Womaniya’ is inspired by real-life shooters, Prakashi, and Chandro Tomar, both senior citizens, living in Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh.

According to the reports, the actress has started preparing for her role and the film will go on floors in February this year. The shooting will be done in Uttar Pradesh and the filmmakers want to shoot some sequences in winter so they will begin the shoot by next month.

The producer Anurag Kashyap, might get an international makeup artist for the prosthetics as Taapsee will be seen as a 60-year-old in few parts. The film will be directed by Tushar Hiranandani.

Taapsee had a fantastic 2018 as she gave three decent hits and gathered public and critic appreciation for her performance in all of them. She is currently busy with ‘Tadka’ which is under post productions and other three ‘Badla’, ‘Game Over’ and ‘Mission Mangal’ which are yet to be announced.

Chandro Tomar, an 87-year-old female Jat shooter is also known as “Shooter Dadi” and is the pride of the district. Mother of eight and grandmother of 15, Tomar has won 25 national championships throughout India.

Now shooting runs in her family. Her granddaughter Shefali Tomar is an international shooter and her niece Seema Tomar is also a sharpshooter. Seema was the first Indian woman to win a medal at the Rifle and Pistol World Cup in 2010.
