The 2018 horror-comedy ‘Stree’ starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor was a major hit at the box office and was well received by the masses and the critics. The film was appreciated for great performances, strong writing, and for being an entertaining watch. However, the film also became the talk of the town due to a major dispute between the two production companies over the distribution of the film’s profit. And finally, after two years the issue has been finally resolved.
For those unaware, Stree was co-produced by Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films and Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK of D2R Films and the banter went on for two years and has now reached a peaceful conclusion. The companies have jointly released a statement stating that they have resolved their differences. The statement read as, “We, Maddock Films Pvt Ltd (and its promoter Mr. Dinesh Vijan) & D2R Films LLP(and its partners Raj Nidimoru & Krishna DK) are pleased to confirm that we have amicably resolved our differences with regard to our film Stree which released in August 2018.”
“All copyright & intellectual property rights in & to the film Stree including the derivative rights thereof are henceforth owned solely by Maddock Films Pvt Ltd,” they added.
Talking about Stree, it became a revolutionary film in the genre of horror-comedy and the fashion of the genre rose since then as it made a way for all horror-comedies that have released so far since the release of Stree. The film also starred Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, Atul Srivastava, and Abhishek Banerjee in pivotal roles.
