As the name of the show suggests, The Fame Game is about people in the limelight. However, Sri Rao creates a show where the characters indulge in the dark shadows of that spotlight.

Netflix original The Fame Game is a story about a Bollywood star who goes missing without a clue. Anamika Anand was one of the renowned celebrities who ruled over the silver screen. Produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Entertainment, the show centres around the journey of the actress from her highs to lows in her career. The most loved celebrity of that era, the queen of every heart, Anamika Anand, was no more than a puppet to her family. And one day after a party, she disappears. During the investigation some shocking truths about her life unveil.

Written by Sri Rao, directed by Bejoy Nambiar and Karishma Kohli, the eight-episode show chronicles the journey of an achiever who had stardom and shined outside, however, the young lady couldn’t escape the ravages of time.

Madhuri Dixit Nene slides into the character of Anamika Anand effortlessly. The aura of our 90s queen Madhuri Dixit always does magic to every single character she portrays. Her body language, mannerism, million-dollar smile just perfectly resemble the character written for her.

Suhasini Mulay features her mother. Sanjay Kapoor stars as Anamika’s husband, Nikhil More, whom she gets married unwillingly because of her mother. While Muskaan Jafferi plays the role of her daughter, Lakshvir Singh Saran features her son. The duo reel-life siblings did justice to the characters.

Manav Kaul steals our hearts with his outstanding performance as Manish Khanna, a successful actor and a close acquaintance of Anamika Anand.

Rajshri Deshpande plays ACP Shobha Trivedi, the investigating officer of the case. The show goes back and forth as Shobha unearths little-known facts of Anamika Anand, her family and her career. Meanwhile, individual characters recall the personal encounters they have had with her over the past six months.

REVIEW OF THE FAME GAME

As the story moves back and forth audience gets acquainted with the challenges faced by Anamika. Sri Rao’s story blends mystery, crime, thrill and ample drama in the show. As the story moves forward, the show becomes more interesting. The shocking truths and suspense are the indulging factors of the web series.

The dialogues, scenes, screenplay are perfect in the show. Though the initial episodes are slow with insufficient drama, the last four episodes are quite engaging as the hidden truths are unveiled.

Overall, the web series is watchable, and if you are a Madhuri Dixit fan, you must watch her digital debutant show. The Fame Game is currently streaming on Netflix.
