Oscar winner ‘The Favourite’ to compete with ‘The Least Of These’ at Box Office India this week

It’s a face-off between historical period drama ‘The Favourite’ and drama ‘The Least Of These’ at the Indian Box Office this week. Interestingly, both the movies are somehow inspired by some true events.

The Favourite:

The Hollywood historical period drama ‘The Favourite’ is slated to hit theatres in India on March 1, 2019. It had its world premiere at the 75th Venice International Film Festival on 30 August 2018. It was released on 23 November 2018 in the USA and on 1 January 2019 in the UK and Ireland. The trailer of the film is also released in the country.

‘The Favourite’ explores the story of two cousins competing to become favourite of Queen of Great Britain, Queen Anne.

It stars Olivia Colman, Emma Stone, Rachel Weisz, Nicholas Hoult, and Joe Alwyn. Olivia Colman won Oscar for the best actress for her performance in ‘The Favourite’.

The Least Of These:

English language film ‘The Least Of These’ based on the true story of an Australian missionary martyred in India in 1999 released on 1st February in the USA and it will release on 1st March in India. It centers the life of Graham Staines who was killed while helping patients along with his two sons in India.

The film explores the journey of a young journalist Manav Banerjee who moves to the town of Orissa in hope of a better life and the assurance of a productive career with his pregnant wife. There he finds out that local Australian missionary Graham Staines is illegally converting leprosy patients to Christianity. He investigates trying to find witnesses and proof of it for his newspaper.

The film stars Stephen Baldwin, Shari Rigby, and Bollywood star Sharman Joshi in lead roles. Aneesh Daniel is the director of the movie.
