Brazilian comedy troupe Porta dos Fundos’s headquarter was attacked by unknown people on Christmas eve, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The incident occured following the backlash over their Netflix comedy special The First Temptation of Christ which features a gay Jesus Christ.

The headquarters, which is located in Rio De Janeiro, was hit with a molotov cocktail along with two petrol bombs that were thrown in the building which caused a fire.

According to the report, no one was hurt in the fire. The building’s security guards reportedly stopped the fire.

The official statement from Porta dos Fundos which they posted on social media, read: “One of the security guards managed to control the fire and was not injured, even though the action endangered several innocent lives in the company and on the street.” Further writing, “Porta dos Fundos condemns any act of violence and has made the security camera images available to the authorities, and expects those responsible for the attacks to be found and punished. However, our priority right now is the safety of the entire team that works with us.”

The First Temptation of Christ premiered on Netflix on 3 December and tells the comic story of a homosexual Jesus Christ. A petition was circulated online calling for the ban of the comedy special, which currently has over 2 million signatures.
