Can two Batmans exist in one film? Yes, apparently they can and the upcoming DC film The Flash will feature them. What’s more exciting is that Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton are both going to play them. Previously both had played the role in separate films. While Affleck appeared in Dawn of Justice and Justice League, Keaton portrayed it in Tim Burton’s Batman.

But how can they play Batman again when Robert Pattinson is starring in Matt Reeves’s upcoming film The Batman?

The two actors are appearing as Batman in the film to establish a multiverse as per Vanity Fair. This means that the film will show two different versions of Batman. Interesting isn’t it?

The film will follow the story of Barry Allen who crashes into different timelines and encounters different versions of Batman.

Director, Andy Muschietti talked to the Vanity Fair about Ben Affleck reprising his role as Batman in the film, saying :

“His Batman has a dichotomy that is very strong, which is his masculinity, because of the way he looks, and the imposing figure that he has, and his jawline, but he’s also very vulnerable. He knows how to deliver from the inside out, that vulnerability. He just needs a story that allows him to bring that contrast, that balance.”

He further added :

“The interaction and relationship between Barry and Affleck’s Wayne will bring an emotional level that we haven’t seen before. It’s Barry’s movie, it’s Barry’s story, but their characters are more related than we think. They both lost their mothers to murder, and that’s one of the emotional vessels of the movie. That’s where the Affleck Batman kicks in.”

Actor, Michael Keaton who is also playing Batman in the film albeit a different version, will be a substantial part of the film. Muschietti confirmed. Ezra Miller is playing the role of The Flash.

On the other hand, Matt Reeves also shared a new development about The Batman on Twitter. He shared a logo of the film and a DC Fandom Artwork.

Reeves posted the following tweet :

All of these compounds more interest in DC’s upcoming FanDome event, a virtual DC convention starting from August 22.
