Dalip Singh Rana, better known by his ring name “The Great Khali” has been roped in for a role in Tollywood movie titled ‘Narendra’. The WWE wrestler will mark his debut in the Telugu film industry. He will play a pivotal role in Jayanth C Paranji directorial.
The film starring Nilesh Eti and Izabelle Leiti in the lead roles is a boxing drama. Bankrolled by Eshaan Entertainments, the first schedule of the film has already been completed. Ram Sampath will compose the music for the film.
This is not the first The Great Khali will be cast in a film. He has earlier worked in American sports prison comedy film ‘The Longest Yard’ along with James Cromwell, Nelly, William Fichtner and several former and current professional athletes such as Terry Crews, Michael Irvin, Brian Bosworth, Bill Romanowski, Bill Goldberg, Bob Sapp, Kevin Nash, Stone Cold Steve Austin in 2005.
He was next seen in 2008 released American action spy comedy film ‘Get Smart’ co-starring Steve Carell, Anne Hathaway, Dwayne Johnson, Alan Arkin, Terence Stamp, Terry Crews, David Koechner, and James Caan. Then in ‘MacGruber’ released in 2010.
His first Hindi movie was 2010 released ‘Kushti’ directed by T.K. Rajeev Kumar. It starred Rajpal Yadav, Manoj Joshi, Om Puri, and Sharat Saxena. His ‘Ramaa: The Saviour’ was also released in the same year.
He even appeared in the fourth season of the reality show Big Boss.
