Director Vijay Krishna Acharya has decided to release his upcoming film Thugs of Hindostan, in the digitally edited IMAX format. Set for release on 7th of November, 2018, on the auspicious event of Diwali, Yash Raj Films is prepared to bring to its audience the best movie experience at their nearest IMAX theatres.
Thugs of Hindostan is quite possibly the most awaited Bollywood film of 2018, considering this project brings to the silver screen the first ever collaboration between Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan. Following hit movies like Baahubali 2 and Padmaavat, Thugs of Hindostan is set to become the fifth ever Indian movie to be aired in IMAX format.
Greg Foster, the CEO of IMAX Entertainment, has stated that following the release of Dhoom 3 in IMAX format, his company is excited to work with Yash Raj Films again, to bring to life an epic movie like Thugs of Hindostan in the most vivid and immersive theatre experience ever. The Senior Executive Vice-President has also explained that the IMAX Corporation aims to use their rapidly expanding network in India not only to better the Indian blockbusters, but also to expand the target audience of every movie across the world; helping the prospective viewers enjoy a movie like Thugs of Hindostan in the most cinematic way.
Director Christopher Nolan has previously aired films shot partially with IMAX 70mm cameras. Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War was the first film ever to be shot entirely with IMAX/Arri digital cameras. Movies like this exert different auras in theatres which allows the audience to experience the movie as if it were real.
