Played most complex character in 'The Hungry': Tisca Chopra!

Indian actress Tisca Chopra says that she has played the most complex character in the movie title ‘The Hungry’. Tisca says that she is playing a very pivotal role in the movie and her character is quite dark and complex and she wants to work on a Shakespearian piece and this is on her wish list as an actor.

On Saturday, after the premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, ‘The Hungry’ it has an Asian Premier at the 19th Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival. Her upcoming movie with a title ‘The Hungry’ is an adaptation of the Shakespeare’s Titus Andronicus, which was directed by Bornila Chatterjee. In the movie. Tisca is playing a woman taking revenge for her dead son and keeping the core essence of the story intact, the whole story is set in the North India.

While sharing her experience of working in the movie, Tisca says that this is one of the stories that interested her immediately and she thinks that she has never played a complex character like this before. As an actress, she always wanted to be a part of something that is related to the Shakespeare. Tisca says that the whole process of playing the character was quite interesting and before the scene she used to do a lot of discussions. Actor Naseeruddin Shah has even named her as ‘Tiscassion Chopra’. However, the whole team of the movie really enjoyed a lot and the movie has been shot within a short span of 22 days.

When asked that her upcoming can be compared to the filmmakers Vishal Bhardwaj’s three officials adaptations like Maqbool, Omkara, and Haider which are also on the Shakespeare’s plays and the movies have already made their mark. About this Tisca says that she feel really honoured if her work will be compared to that of a film director like Vishal Bhardwaj.

Tisca says that the movie ‘The Hungry’ is her attempt of telling a story replete with violent and primal urges in a modern Indian context and she is very curious in knowing that how will the India reacts after watching a movie. The movie ‘The Hungry’ has also been shortlisted for the Oxfam Best Movie which is on gender equality at the 19th Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival.
