'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' box office collection Day 1!

Akshay Kumar, Bhumi Pednekar‘s most awaited movie “Toilet: Ek Prem Katha” has finally released this Friday and the movie has completed its 1st day at the box office. The movie which is directed by Shree Narayan Singh co-produced by Akshay Kumar and Neeraj Pandey. The movie features Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead roles, with Anupam Kher, and Sana Khan in supporting roles.

According to the reports, The movie “Toilet: Ek Prem Katha” has opened to a decent occupancy and as per the estimate, it has collected a good amount on day one. Looking at the Akshay Kumar’s previous movies like “Jolly LLB 2” had collected 13.20 crore on its first day, “Rustom” too had collected the same range as it collected 14.11 crore on its first day and “Housefull 3” which grossed 15.21 crores in its 1st day.

Akshay’s film has released in 3000 screens in India and 590 screens in overseas. The film has witnessed an occupancy of 30% – 35% at the box office. The movie has picked up the pace from the evening show and it seems like it will gross 15 crores on its 1 day at the Box office. However, the movie has an advantage of a public holiday, Independence Day, on Tuesday so the movie has a chance to earn more on that day. If the growth of the film remains stable on the weekends and on the weekdays so Akshay has a huge chance of becoming the highest grosser.

The main motive of the movie is to focus on the important subject of building and using toilets in the country. The movie is based on the true incidents and on the importance of toilets in rural areas. In the movie, Akshay Kumar will be seen playing the role of Keshav and the only thing he dreams of is getting married until he meets Jaya (Bhumi Pednekar) and falls in love. While Keshav is a simple person, Jaya is a broad-minded and a progressive thinker. All’s well in their lives, till Jaya, after marriage, is introduced to the lota gang by the women of her house.  However, she fights back along with Keshav. Going against all odds, Keshav and Jaya attempt to bring a change in their family’s thought and take on a political battle over open defecation and sanitation.
