Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar‘s satirical comedy Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is based on the importance of toilets in rural areas. The film is directed by Shree Narayan Singh and co-produced by Akshay Kumar and Neeraj Pandey. The film will star Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead roles, with Anupam Kher, and Sana Khan in supporting roles.

According to latest reports, Filmmakers were keen to cast actress Sonakshi Sinha to play the protagonist in “Toilet: Ek Prem Katha.” But, the actress chose “Noor” over it. Thus, the makers decided to change the plot and cast Khiladi Kumar for the role.

The film is based on the real incident. It is linked to 19 year-old-girl Priyanka Bharti, who gave rise to the revolution after she left her in-law’s house because they didn’t have toilets. After when Sonakshi rejected the offer makers decided to change the plot and make the film from a male perspective where the hero starts the revolution for his wife.

Talking more about the film, Akshay, who plays Keshav and the only thing he dreams of is getting married until he meets Jaya (Bhumi Pednekar) and falls in love. While Keshav is a simple person, Jaya is a broad-minded and a progressive thinker. All’s well in their lives, till Jaya, after marriage, is introduced to the lota gang by the women of her house.  However, she fights back along with Keshav. Going against all odds, Keshav and Jaya attempt to bring a change in their family’s thought and take on a political battle over open defecation and sanitation.
