The second trailer of Tom Cruise starrer Hollywood action film, Top Gun: Maverick, was released this Monday (16th December). The long awaited sequel to his 1986 hit film Top Gun, it shows Cruise reprising his role of Pete Mitchell, who is now a Captain assigned to train a younger batch of fighter pilots.

The trailer has several breathtaking airborne dog fighting scenes which feel too real as if the viewer is in the plane’s cockpit. Just like the first film, the impressive mid air action scenes will be the major highlight of the film.

The two minute twenty two second clip is the second trailer of the film. The first one was released four months ago at the ComicCon.

It is set 35 years after the events of the first film which was directed by Tony Scott, who committed suicide in 2012.

The 1986 film was a major commercial success, making $356 at the box-office and catapulted Cruise’s career. A sequel was in talks for a long time, but after Scott passed away, Cruise decided to make it a priority.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski, the film also stars Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly and John Hamm. It is slated to hit theaters on 26 June, 2020.
