Ramadan season has always been lucky for Salman Khan‘s films including ‘Sultan’, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and ‘Ek Tha Tiger’. Tubelight underperformed on Eid unlike Salman Khan’s films which set new records on box office mainly on Eid.

Though a little below the expected response for a Salman Khan film, ‘ Tubelight ‘ saw an average collection on the festival of Eid. The opening day collection stood at Rs 21.15 crore and the movie was expected to do good business on Eid. But despite being a holiday, the Eid day collection fell short of the opening day collection at Rs 19.09 crore.

On the positive side, the film directed by Kabir Khan is now inching closer to the 100-crore mark with a total five-day collection of Rs 95.86 crore, according to Taran Adarsh’s tweet.

The reviews from critics for Tubelight are mostly average. Very few of them have actually rated the film above 3 stars.
Nevertheless, it’s Salman’s film and when it is a ‘Salman’s film’ the reviews don’t matter much to them! However, not missing out on the core point that the film’s lifetime business will totally depend on ‘Janta’s verdict’. Only a positive word of mouth will help the film to sustain for more than 3 weeks in theaters. One of the biggest advantage for Tubelight is the fact that it has a good two week free run with no big release in the way. In short, it requires hardly 2 more days to cross the 100-crore mark.

So in the coming days, ‘Tubelight’ is expected to check itself in as Salman Khan’s eleventh 100 crore film.
