1. The Couple
Director Nupur Asthana’s story, The Couple, centres around a couple working in private firms in Mumbai. The episode stars Priyanshu Painyuli and Shreya Dhanwanthary as a happily married couple. However, the wife loses her job due to the pandemic, which lead to disputes and chaos in their lives. In the end, the husband comes up with an ideal solution to avert the hassle. The episode is a subtle start to Unpaused: Naya Safar.
2. War Room
Ayappa KM’s War Room exhibits the story of a widow school teacher, played by Geetanjali Kulkarni, who devotes her soul and time to the covid war room as the schools continue to remain shut. One day she gets a phone call from someone responsible for her son’s death. Connecting from past to present, War Room engages the audience while portraying a canvas of agony, humanity and loneliness. War Room stars Geetanjali Kulkarni, Rasika Agashe, Purnanand Wandekar and Sharvari Deshpande.
3. Teen Tigada
Ruchir Arun’s Teen Tigada stars Saqib Saleem, Ashish Verma and Sam Mohan as thieves. The trio get stuck in an under-construction area due to the sudden lockdown. They decides to finish their work at the earliest and return back home. They try to acquire money from the dealer unfortunately, the plan backfired leaving them in despair. While the trio gave brilliant performances, the story has little to keep you engage.
4. Gond Ke Laddu
Shikha Makan’s story revolves around the lives of a widowed woman and a delivery boy. Veteran actor, Neena Kulkarni stars as a widow, concerned about her daughter who recently gave birth to a baby. Due to the pandemic, she cannot visit her daughter so she sends a box filled with love and ‘gond ke laddu’ to her via courier. The story reaches a divergence and follows the life of a delivery boy who meets with an accident and the ‘gond ke laddu’ box gets wrecked. This breezy tale will surely leave a smile on your face in the end.
5. Vaikunth
Nagraj Manjule’s Vaikunth has the strongest storyline of the Unpaused: Naya Safar. The episode stars Nagraj Manjule as a man working in a crematorium. The man has two stomachs to fill in the house. Arjun Karche plays his young son and Hanumant Bhandari, his aged father who is battling coronavirus in hospital. The episode apprises the real story about the situation inside crematoriums during the rising deaths due to covid-19. The story deals with how society treats the covid-infected families and the frontline workers. Unpaused: Naya Safar ends on a high note with Manjule’s Vaikunth.
