Helmed by iconic Sooraj Barjatya, the film is a roller coaster ride of emotions. While Uunchai will make you laugh at times, it will also fill your eyes with tears at others. The film is an intense trek experience about three friends trying to scale Everest.
‘UUNCHAI’ PLOT SUMMARY
The film begins with Amitabh Bachchan’s voiceover narration telling the intent of the film. The story follows the journey of four friends in their mid-seventies: Amit, Bhupen, Om, and Javed. The four decide to go on a trek to Mount Everest. However, the next day Bhupen dies, which shatters their world into pieces.
After a few days, Amit finds the tickets that they booked for the trip, and tries to convince the other two to go on the trek to fulfil Bhupen’s last wish. After much tricks and convincing, they finally agreed to trek to Everest.
The second half of the film continues their journey to Mount Everest. As the oldies go higher, the challenges become tougher. Meanwhile, Parineeti Chopra, their trek captain, aids tips and tricks and helps them to scale Mount Everest.

Sooraj Barjatya’s Uunchai has a stellar cast, including Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Danny Denzongpa, Neena Gupta, Sarika and Parineeti Chopra.
Watching megastar Amitabh Bachchan on the big screen is a visual treat to our eyes. The actor played Amit, who brings the emotional core to the film as he convinces the other two to fulfil their late friend’s last wish.
Anupam Kher, with his perfect comic timing and facial expressions, always steals the show. Meanwhile, Boman Irani also shows his quirky side. He even gets to romance in the film this time.
While Neena Gupta plays Boman’s wife, Sarika portrays the long-lost lover of the late Bhupen, played by Danny Denzongpa . Both the actresses, with their charm and acting skills, capture and connects with the audience at a great level. Parineeti Chopra too did a decent job playing their trek captain.

Helmed by Sooraj Barjatya, the much-awaited family entertainer Uunchai had a theatrical release on 11th October, 2022. The film minted around Rs 1.81 crores on its opening day. However, we can witness 50% growth, as the film has earned Rs 3 crores on Saturday.
Despite a relatively small release across just 483 screens, with major centres featuring four shows per day, Uunchai has opened strong.
