Vidya Balan on CBFC board, hopes cinema reflects reality!!

Vidya Balan is an Indian actress. She made her acting debut with the most popular TV show “Hum Paanch”, which was directed by Kapil Kapoor. The lead actors of the show Ashok Saraf, Vidya Balan, Rakhee Tandon, Bhairavi Raichura, Vandana Pathak have gained overnight stardom and became iconic TV actors. Vidya is very well known for portraying strong protagonists and has been acknowledged in the media for pioneering a change in the concept of a Hindi film heroine. She is the recipient of several awards, including a National Film Award, five Filmfare Awards, and five Screen Awards, and was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2014.

Yesterday, National Award winning actress Vidya Balan appointed as part of the reconstituted Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and from now she will be chaired by writer Prasoon Joshi. Vidya looks forward to a phase where cinema celebrates present-day sensibilities and realities.

Actress Vidya Balan is joined by Gautami Tadimalla, Narendra Kohli, Naresh Chandra Lal, Neil Herbert Nongkynrih, Vivek Agnihotri, Waman Kendre, T.S. Nagabharana, Ramesh Patange, Vani Tripati Tikoo, Jeevitha Rajasekhar and Mihir Bhuta.

About the same Vidya said. “I am very happy to join the CBFC and I hope to fulfil my responsibilities as a member to the best of my abilities. I look forward to this new and exciting phase where our cinema will be allowed to reflect the sensibilties, realities and the complexities of the society we are living in today.”

 The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has been reconstituted for a period of three years or until further orders, whichever is earlier, the statement said by PIB. It came on the same day when CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani was replaced by Prasoon Joshi.
