Vidya Balan is one of the most popular actress in the Hindi film industry who is also vocal about social issues.

On the eve of children’s day, the actress shared a video on her Instagram profile, pledging to work towards eradicating child sexual abuse.

With the help of the NGO Arpan, Vidya said that she has launched the child safety week from 14 to 20th November, pledging to keep children’s safe.

She captioned it: “#ChildSafetyWeek

I am very excited to share that @arpan_csa ,an NGO working on the issue of child sexual abuse, that I am associated with, has launched @ChildSafetyWeek this #ChildrensDay! Let’s come together to keep our children safe from child sexual abuse.

14th November is celebrated in India as the National Children’s Day as it marks the birthday of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.

On the work front, Vidya is now a days busy with the shooting of the biographical drama film ‘Shakuntala Devi’, where she is playing the eponymous character of human calculator.

The film is directed by Anu Menon and also stars Sanya Malhotra, Jisshu Sengupta and Amit Sadh in pivotal roles.

Produced by Vikram Malhotra under the banner Abundantia Entertainment and Sony Pictures Networks, the film will release in the summer of 2020.

Vidya was last seen in ‘Mission Mangal’ where she played the role of an ISRO scientist juggling between personal and professional life.

Based on the Mars Orbital Mission, the film met with positive reviews from critics and strong box-office results.
