Mahesh Manjrekar’s next directorial titled ‘Power’ starring Vidyut Jammwal and Shruti Haasan in the lead roles is the Hindi adaptation of the Hollywood classic ‘The Godfather’.
“It is a massy action film, the journey of one man, ‘Devi Das Thakur’, played by Vidyut, who goes on to become a powerful don, taking over the mantle from his father,” informed producer Vijay Galani.
Mahesh will play the father of Vidyut who also has a brother. The film has an ensemble cast of mostly Marathi actors.
“We have eight baddies and around eight hardcore action scenes,” Vijay shares.
Ravi Verma, a stunt choreographer from the south film industry has designed the action sequences.
Mahesh’s dream project ‘Power’ marks his return to the ‘Vaastav’ space. “The 1999 Sanjay Dutt don-drama has become a cult film. But that was more like a drama while this is an action film with elements of drama,” explains Galani.
Talking to the media, Vidyut had earlier described the film as a “combination of larger-than-life action and my brand of action”.
Vidyut who last appeared in Chuck Russell‘s ‘Junglee‘ is currently taking a break and touring the North-East.
