It looks like almost every film will release on an OTT platform this year. The COVID-19 pandemic has left filmmakers with no other option but to turn towards a digital release. Joining the slew of films that have chosen to release on Netflix is Cargo, a science fiction film starring Vikrant Massey and Shweta Tripathi. The film is coming out on September 9.

On Tuesday, Netflix announced this through a tweet. They posted a meme, making the announcement witty.

Netflix posted the following Tweet :

Director, Arati Kadav is directing the film which also stars Nandu Madhav. It revolves around a demon, working on a spaceship for years for, Post Death Transition services. In the services, dead people are recycled for rebirth.

Before it opted to release on Netflix, a year ago the film had its premiere at the 2019 MAMI Festival under the spotlight section. Further, it was supposed to screen at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Festival in March, but the pandemic canceled the festival.

Producers of the film are Arati Kadav, Navin Shetty, Shlok Sharma, and filmmaker Anurag Kashyap.

Actor, Shweta Tripathi was in Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Raat Akeli Hai which released last month. While Vikrant Massey appeared alongside Deepika Padukone in Chhapaak last year.

The plot of Cargo seems fresh and something different than attempted previously in Indian cinema. It looks that the film will be funny and with performers like Vikrant, and Shweta the film looks like one to look out for.
