He is not only a director but also a music composer. I am talking about the creative genius, Vishal Bhardwaj. One of the most talented and renowned directors in Indian Cinema is now going to make music independent from films. Vishal has composed several songs in his own films, which have also gained popularity.

Working on films has its own challenges and making music for films is different than making music independently. Film music have their own context, while independently created music their own. Breaking away from it, the director has created his own music label, VB Music.

On Thursday, July 2 he announced this via Twitter. A separate account for the label was created, through which Vishal explained his motive behind creating the label. He said :

“I’ve said this many times before that I became a film director so that I can keep my inner music composer alive. But films have their own restrictions — in terms of situations, characters and many more, I have thought for many years on how to present the tunes that do not go with films.”

He also promised to try and deliver a new song every month via his label. Vishal has created it with his wife and singer, Rekha Bhardwaj. Both of them posted on Twitter, to announce their new venture.

Check out Vishal’s video which he posted on Twitter via his label. Here is it:

Vishal has made iconic films such as Omkara, Haider, Maqbool, Kaminey and for his music composition in Gulzar’s Maachis, he won the Filmfare RD Burman Award For New Music Talent. While he is a recipient of National Film Award For Best Music Director for Godmother (1999).
