Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited launched a video-on-demand digital entertainment platform, ZEE5 on the 14th of February, 2018. As of 21st May, Tarun Katial has been promoted to the Chief Executive Officer of ZEE5, along with many other structural changes. Along with this responsibility, Mr. Katial now also manages other sectors of ZEEL as CEO of Big FM, and head of Zee Ganga and Zee Magic.
Tarun Katial had also been associated with Reliance Broadcast Network Limited as their CEO after ZEEL had acquired the company in 2016. Prior to that, Tarun had been a part of Sony Pictures Entertainment, and Star TV Network. With ZEEL, Tarun had been playing an integral role as part of the team which launched the ZEE5 this year. He was in charge of the original content which is set to be broadcasted on the platform. Concurrently, Archana Anand, who previously maintained the post of Head of Digital for ZEE5 India Business, has been promoted to the chief business officer for ZEE5 Global.
ZEE5’s promotion propaganda includes plans for creating and broadcasting at least 90 shows in March 2019. As of yet, the platform contains over 1 lakh hours of content, with one new original web series called Table No. 5. In a statement addressing the viewers, Tarun Katial stated that he was ready to lead ZEE5 towards presenting to the viewers the most captivating curated content for the customers, and Table No.5 was just the beginning of their venture into the thriller genre.
