The theatres had to open up one day, as theatre owners cannot bear losses for long. Already they are struggling amidst the pandemic. The centre, who gave their nod to open theatres from October 15, alerted many studios, to plan their film’s release.

Looking to release two of its recently released films, Zee Studios has already begun talks with theatre owners. Which are these two films? These are, Ishaan Khatter-Ananya Panday starrer, Khaali Peeli, and Vijay Sethupathi’s Tamil film, Ka Pae Ranasingam. Both of them had made their debut on Zee’s pay-per-view service, Zee Plex on October 2.

While a drive-in theatre in Gurgaon also released Khaali Peeli. If the pandemic had not come, Khaali Peeli would have released on June 12, but the makers had to change their plans, as soon as they saw the situation worsening.

Speaking about the possibility of releasing the films in theatres with the Press Trust of India, CEO of Zee Studios, Shariq Patel said :

“We welcome the central government notification for reopening the theatres. We are currently in talks with the cinema owners and would love to provide our movies Khaali Peeli and Ka Pae Ranasingam, which have been received quite well by the audience on the PPV format.”

Further, he added, “We are sure that given the opportunity our audiences will enjoy them in cinemas as well.”

While Maqbool Khan has directed Khaali Peeli, which also stars Jaideep Ahlawat, Ka Pae Ranasingam, is P Virumaandi’s debut.

On the other hand, three Hollywood films are set to release in theatres once they reopen. PVR revealed them to be, Dave Bautista’s My Spy, Mel Gibson’s Force of Nature and, the horror film, The Rental. Dates for the films are 16, 23, and 30 October respectively.
