Megastar Rajinikanth starrer ‘2.0’ became the highest grossing Tamil film ever. The film has created history in Tamil film industry as not only did it have the highest figures ever in terms of raw numbers but it is also the highest inflation-adjusted grosser.
According to the Box Office India reports, no Tamil film in history has ever crossed 400 crore net or 500 gross even in adjusted numbers. In Tamil Nadu, the film becomes the second highest net grossing film after Enthiran (Robot).
The film’s net earnings in the Hindi belt is ₹185.89 crores. The total earning of the film in all formats is ₹413.30 crores in India and breaking all the past records of Tamil industry with a huge margin ‘2.0’ has collected ₹136.16 crores from the International market. The film’s total and final earning globally has reached to ₹655.81 crores.
As per Box Office India, “The 656 crore approx makes it the sixth highest grossing Indian film ever across the world allowing for all formats of release.”
Besides Rajinikanth ‘2.0’ also stars Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson in pivotal roles. While Rajinikanth was in the double role in the movie just like the prequel movie ‘Enthiran’, as Dr. Vaseegaran and Super Robot Chitti, Akshay Kumar portrayed the role of supervillain Pakshirajan and Amy Jackson was seen as the friendly humanoid robot Neela.
