Cyclone Gaja is likely to cause scattered rains to commence over South Interior Karnataka including Bengaluru from Thursday afternoon.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) in it’s latest press release, said that cyclone ‘Gaja’ will possibly intensify into a severe cyclonic storm by Wednesday evening and is expected to make a landfall at Cuddalore or Pamban on Thursday evening. The depression is currently over west-central, east-central and south Bay of Bengal and is projected to be moving west-southwards at about 520 km east of Chennai.

People have been cautioned and recommended to completely suspend fishing operations along the coasts of north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and adjoining Andhra Pradesh for November 14 and 15.

According to IMD, the sea waves might rise up to 1.0 meter in height and they can probably even flood the low lying areas of Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai and Ramanathapuram districts of Tamil Nadu.
