Union Cabinet Minister for Environment, Forest & Climate Change Bhupender Yadav has said that Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve in Rajasthan has been notified on Monday. This is Rajasthan’s fourth addition of tiger reserve after Ranthambore, Sariska and Mukundra.
In a series of tweets, Bhupender Yadav said, Pleased to note Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve has been notified today. The 52nd Reserve of India will conserve biodiversity and bring in ecotourism and development to the area. Under the leadership of PM Shri @narendramodi ji, we are committed to preserving our wildlife.”

The Minister tweeted, “The newly notified tiger reserve includes the tiger habitat between Ranthambore Tiger Reserve in the northeast and Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve on the southern side and facilitates dispersal of tigers from Ranthambore Tiger Reserve.”
The Minister said, “The floristic diversity of this new tiger reserve makes it an important area for research and education. Historic and cultural sites like Bhimlat, Ramgarh palace would encourage eco tourism and provide employment opportunities to local communities.”
What is the National Tiger Conservation Authority and what does it do?
The National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) is a statutory body under the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change constituted under enabling provisions of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, as amended in 2006, for strengthening tiger conservation.
NTCA has been fulfilling its mandate within the ambit of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 for strengthening tiger conservation in the country by retaining an oversight through advisories or normative guidelines, based on appraisal of tiger status, ongoing conservation initiatives and recommendations of specially constituted committees.
NTCA has been at the forefront of tiger conservation work in India. Its work domain extends from on the ground protection initiatives to science based monitoring of tigers and their habitat using latest technological tools, independent assessment of tiger reserves, financial and technical support to tiger reserves, creating inviolate space for wildlife while ensuring community development to international co-operation are the few thrust areas of NTCA.
