So, the awesome Bangalore weather is almost back on the cards and it was welcomed with a Special evening exclusively for SPG members (Starwood Preferred Guest) at Hotel Sheraton, Bangalore on May 02, 2014. It looked like a Fine Scottish Whisky Meets Delightful Italian Flavors at BENE as Sheraton Bangalore Hotel at Brigade Gateway commemorates its 3rd Year Anniversary.

As a food blogger, I was invited to participate in the event which took place at Hotel Sheraton, Brigade Gateway (just at the center of the city alongside some of the famous landmarks). The list of guests was not a big one like other events of similar kind, however, the little crowd was really appreciative and professional.

The event started with networking over drinks. There were a few corporate people as well as a few journalists forming a proper balance of a similar crowd to accompany others in the same profession. As expected and informed by the PR agency, the men of the moment were Saurabh Bakshi (General Manager, Hotel Sheraton, Bangalore) along with Sandeep Arora, the only whiskey ambassador in India.

His session started with a brief introduction about himself and an interaction with the crowd around. Wasting no time, the guy moved to the discussion about his thing, the whiskey.

I have never tried to drink in my life, so most of the things which he told were going over my head. However, listening to everything I could make out that he was talking about the history of whiskey and how people started drinking it in the very early age. He also spoke about the composition of different kinds of whiskey, different tastes of whiskey and how does it become better with time. To give an awesome experience to the people around, he also had 3 variants of whiskey which were 12, 18 and 21 year old respectively.

The session by Sandeep Arora got over in a little time and that made us move to the dinner table. Well, for me, that was the most awaited moment as I had refused to drink for over 5 times to 5 different people by then.

The dinner was a five-course delicious meal which started with salad. The veg variant included tobacco infused ricotta cheese with mesclun and non-veg variant included 2 other stuffs containing chicken as well as duck.

The next thing which came in front of was was even more delicious and by far the best soup I have ever tasted in life. The main guy behind the food, Bene did an awesome job to prepare that dish with goat cheese, honey and butternut squash. The taste was somewhat unique and it made me get in love it it right from the moment I tasted it first.

The while dinner was progressing along with some nice discussion going around me, as I had few really awesome people sitting alongside me on the same table for dinner. I had a sub editor of Deccan Chronicle sitting right beside me, on the other side, I had the south Asia head of SPG. In front of me I had the Consulate General of Switzerland in India, who is a guy with a lot of fun and ideas.

The time was literally running and it was already 10:30. It was the time, by when we had finished the soup and we had the main course meal in front of us which had an awesomely smoked chicken breast with whiskey glazed sauce. It was accompanied by another home smoked stuff, potato to be more specific. The taste was great and greater was the combination. The main course meal was truly satisfying the name of the event, pairing of whiskey with food, however, for me it looked that the dishes were evenly paired in that meal, which was an awesome experience to enjoy.

Once the main course meal was over, it was quiet late. So in a bit of hurry, we were served the dessert which was nothing but pure chocolate. However, the creativity with the chocolate was awesome that for an instance, none of us could believe that the structure which was served to us was full of chocolate.

Wondering on how can someone be so creative with chocolate, we ended up with the dinner and the guys proceeded to try out Cigars, which had a mixed taste of 5 countries. I was running really late which made me to run away from the place without even getting a picture of those cigars.

However, even if I had to run at last, it seemed and finally turned out to be an awesome event which was organized with a lot of planning and implemented with a lot of efforts. The team there should really be given credit to that awesome experience which I had along with every single person who was available there that time.
