All of a 20-seater place, this recently opened eatery is much smaller than all the grand cafes sprouting up in the city. Yet what is it about this place that sets it a class apart and appeals to people.

Bindiya Chotrani visits the place on a dining companion’s insistence and finds out.

Enclosed between Dynasty – a Chinese eatery and a kebab take-away joint, the place welcomes you with Globe cluster lamps hanging off the ceilings, card Games on tables and pictorial presentations on walls that lend the place a further chic appeal. Quench at Versova is more of a diamond in a coalmine. The place is a rabbit hole for a cafe. But luckily for them the size doesn’t do much to pull its appeal down.

The-Quench-CafeWe seat ourselves in the non air-conditioned area to get a view of the main road and have the breeze blowing across our faces. Done up in a vibrant pallet of various hues, the place is bright and quirky.

We place an order, that consisting of a Chilli Cheese Toast, and Herb Paprika Chicken. The chilli cheese toast not very different from what you’d get at another cafe, is still a winner – considering the chilli toast generously topped withered cheese, a rare sight usually. Perfectly grilled, not to hard and not very soft, just about enough of capsicums and bell peppers and a generous helping of cheese makes this one a sure winner. We are so impressed by the paprika, that we call for another round of the same herb, although this time with a different protein – fish that is. Herb Paprika fish – fish cooked in an orange tangy sauce that has a slight hint of mustard sauce to it, the dish is sprinkled with chilli flakes to consummate the dish. As for the protein, the chicken screams fresh, while the basa fish is perfectly crumbly and tender, that melts as soon as it is placed into your mouth.

That done for the appetiser bit, our main course pick is the Exotic Veg Pizza. Thin crust, this one looks very 1920618_1405484366380833_1670344036_nvisually enticing. We ask for mushrooms to be added at an extra charge, to which the wait staff happily complies with. The Exotic Veg Pizza is a far cry from the usual pizzas that come from kitchens that have probably run out of toppings. Lots of cheese, an adequate amount of toppings that consist of onions, tomatoes, bell peppers and mushrooms, the pizza is a sure surprise.

To wash all that food down that we’ve happily chomped down on, we call for an Oreo milkshake. The Oreo milkshake screams Oreo and chocolate in bold letters. Not too runny and not very fatty, the milkshake is just about right with Oreo crust and chocolate mixed into milk.

Well, of all the food that we’ve devoured on here, what makes comes of indefinitely off this place is how the place doesn’t disappoint its patrons with too less of its portions.

Now while the place is nothing more than a small cafe serving pizzas, pastas and appetisers, and one of the many cafes that have sprouted up in the versova area, the place definitely manages to win over loyal patrons and stays with you long after you’ve left the place.

Inspite of the many other eateries there’s a lot that differentiates it from them. Call it the effect of the generous portion sizes, the card games placed on every table, or the welcoming ambience of the place.

This place is way more worth than a onetime visit. So much so that we count on this one as our safest bet.
