After a satisfying shopping experience, The United Sports Bar at Phoenix mall is where you have to end up for an exquisite brunch. Creative sporty art on the walls (ball of fame is an eye catcher), a pool table, pictures of famous sport stars, comfortably spaced seating arrangement, all these make it a perfect bar not only for food lovers but also for sport lovers too. This place is a pub establishment and specializes in American, Italian, Mexican, Thai and continental.
You are likely to meet a good number of Manchester United fans once you enter this place. They have a huge display where soccer, tennis or cricket games are screened. The place is lively even on the weekdays.
I was impressed by the choice of their furniture. This bar could accommodate small as well as big groups of people and all the tables are placed in such a way that each person on any table could get a view of the big screen. They also have a nice outdoor seating to enjoy the live music concerts which keeps taking place in the mall. This place also has a good list of songs which they keep playing.
The staff is energetic and is always running around to serve you. They pay heed even to the smallest request. Great service enhances your experience and the staff here was very nice to us. Even the chef would come to us now and then to explain and enquire about the served food.
We ordered three drinks in the beginning. A chocolate-butterscotch beverage, an apple flavored mock tail and a mango drink were our choices since neither of us drank alcohol. May Queen – a non-alcoholic beverage with fresh coconut and mango with a hint of sweetness was my favorite.
For appetizers, we were served with tandoori non veg combo platter that included juicy mutton sheekh kababs, peri peri chicken drenched in spicy paste, grilled fish and chicken served with a sweet and tangy tamarind sauce and mint chutney accompaniments riding on good presentation that made for a killer combo. Another non veg platter was chosen from the grill menu. One can feel the different textures of chicken in one grill platter. On the whole the platter options at United are very good. The quantity too was easily shareable with fulfillment. Their presentation, service and quality are what you will cherish as you leave the restaurant.
Heading towards the main course, options on the menu ranged from huge and filling burgers to pasta and pizzas. We ordered fish and pork. Both of them were not up to the mark. I felt that the marinating of the fish could be done with a better sauce. Pork was tasty but hard to tear. Upon the suggestion of the manager, we had another lemon drink with mint in it. It was very cool and refreshing.
The desserts we ordered were amazing. The best one was the chocolate volcano. Hot chocolate flowing out of yummy chocolate pastry tasted heavenly. This cake was accompanied by a scoop of vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup dressing.
I got to know about the lunch buffet prices which were very reasonable. It is Rs.450 +taxes. A DJ turns up every evening in the disco and they organize karaoke nights too.
All in all if you are interested in a big screen sports experience, you must pay a visit to The United Sports Bar and Grill at least once. They have 3 units in India. In Mumbai alone they have 4 restaurants. The other 2 are located in Pune and Bangalore.
