Amazon has recently added new features for Fire TV Stick (3rd gen) and Fire TV Stick Lite. Available at the new Fire TV Stick and Fire TV Stick Lite at launch and the features includes a new UI that has a new Main Menu, Find destination, user profiles and voice-first experience with Alexa. Amazon has said that it is the Fire TV’s biggest experience update till now.
With the Main Menu at the centre of the screen, users can navigate to key destinations like Home, Find, Live, Library, Profiles and more. Users can also click up for discovering popular content and watch trailers or click down for browsing expanded rows of shows and movies. Here, they will also be able to access their apps, channels and games with the ability to pin and rearrange the order of their apps so that they can easily access their favourites. With supported streaming services, users can now scroll over the app icon to peek at what is inside and start playback or simply jump to the app. Users can also customize the order of their apps, channels and games in the Main Menu.
The Home screen now has a new look and feel and has content tailored to every profile and its users’s viewing preferences. Users can find show and movie recommendations from subscription-based streaming devices and free content from ad-supported apps. Content recommendations can be seen at the ‘Popular Movies & TV Shows’ row and will improve with time as users enjoy more shows and movies from their preferred content providers.
Users can now use the renovated Find tab to filter by content like Movies or TV shows or search recommended categories like Comedy, Action or Adventure. If they are searching for movies or TV shows, they can also filter by content from subscription-based apps or content that is available for free. If they know exactly what they are looking for, they can do that in the Find tab or directly ask Alexa.
Users will now be able to create around six user profiles on Fire TV and provide a personalised experience for everyone at the household. Profiles allow every user to access their viewing history, recommendations, watch list, live TV preferences and select Settings which includes accessibility features. After setting up the Alexa Voice Profile, users can switch Fire TV Profiles by saying “Alexa, switch to my profile”.
