Apple has launched its all-new iMac 2021 at the Spring Loaded event on April 20. The new iMac is powered by the powerful M1 SoC, which is custom-built with an ARM chip. Apple decided to change the design of iMacs after 9 long years and it also comes with new vibrant colors.
Apple iMac 2021 Specifications
The new iMac 2021 draws power from Apple’s M1 SoC, which also powers the MacBook and MacBook Air. The ARM-based design of the M1 chip reduces the size of the logic board and requires a smaller thermal system. This ultimately reduces the volume of the new iMac, which is very lightweight and is almost invisible from the sides with a thickness of 11.5mm.
The new M1-based iMac features two small fans, instead of a large fan, which reduces the noise by 50-percent. The 24-inch iMac has 85-percent faster CPU performance and 2x faster GPU performance as compared to 21.5-inch models. It runs on macOS Big Sur.
The AIO(All-in-One) iMac sports a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display with a resolution of 4,480 x 2,520 pixels and a P3 wide color gamut. The display features Apple’s True Tone technology for color balance and 500 nits of peak brightness.
At the front, it carries a 1080p webcam that runs on neural engines on M1 chips for better face detection and exposure. Apple has also provided the new iMacs with a 6-speakers system with Dolby Atmos-certified that includes force-canceling woofers and tweeters.
For connectivity, iMac 2021 ships with Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), Bluetooth v5, and up to four USB Type-C ports, two of which are Thunderbolt ports. The retail box also includes a new magnetic power connector with color-matched woven cable and a power adaptor that incorporates the ethernet port to save space.
Apple has also introduced color-matched Magic Keyboards with wireless Touch ID. Other models of the keyboard include new keys for Spotlight, Dictation, Do Not Disturb, and emoji. Another model features the new keys, in addition to the numpad. A new color-matching Magic mouse has also been revealed by Apple.
Apple iMac 2021 Price
The base model will be available in four colors- Blue, Green, Red, and Silver, while the higher-end models will be offered in additional three colors- Yellow, Orange, and Purple. In the US, the base model i.e., 8-core CPU, 7-core GPU, 256GB storage, and Magic Keyboard model, is priced at $1,299 (Rs. 97,900), while in India it is priced at Rs. 1,19,900.
Another model with an 8-core CPU, 8-core GPU, 256GB storage, and Touch ID Magic Keyboard is priced at $1,499 (Rs. 1,13,00) in the US and Rs. 1,39,000 in India. The top-end model with (8-core CPU, 8-core GPU, 512GB storage, and Touch ID enabled Magic Keyboard costs $1,699 (Rs. 1,28,100) in the US and Rs. 1,59,000 in India.
The new iMacs will be available for pre-order later this month and will hit the markets in the next month.
