The unveiling of the new Apple watch series 4 at the launch focused on displaying the new design of the smartwatch & it also focused on showcasing the new materials used. On the other end, it also showed the new slimmer appearance of the smartwatch since the last launch of it in 2015.
Point to be considered is how the smartwatch is now sporting a new 30% larger display on their smartwatch.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Apple Watch Series 4 will be available in 40mm and 44m variants
- The Watch is now thinner but claims to offer the same battery life
- ECG feature will ship later via a software update
A better design on Hand
This is signified by the choices now available in from 40 mm onwards to 44mm, from the previous generations featuring it from 38 mm to 42mm.
The first impressions of the new 44 mm watch of the Apple Smartwatch for sure looks bigger in size, but isn’t as chunky & bulky as its competitors, for instance, the Samsung Galaxy Smartwatch. The new smartwatch is inspired by the iPhone X, for sure with more rounded edges, but it doesn’t look as ‘boxy’ as before.
The materials used were the same as the previous generation Series 3 smartwatch, using Ceramic & Sapphire, but because of now, the test wasn’t made on how the comfortable would it measure in the long run can be said.
The Digital Crown is now featured with haptic feedback, which is a really nice addition to the smartwatch. The LTE variant was redesigned now with a red ring surrounding the Crown, from the previous generations of smartwatch which featured a red dot within the Crown, still making no sense.
The Apple Watch Series 4 now utilizes the bigger display as much as possible by featuring the new Infographic panel in the new smartwatch series. The new Infographic panel would more likely to add newer & better details to the watch overall.

There’s a new Modular Infographics watch face would present better customizations offering the space to utilize and offer information on Stock and Scores from favorite sports teams.
New Watch Faces
The newly updated watch faces would offer better options and a new refreshed look over the old generations of the smartwatch, yet Apple announces the other fact that these new face watches wouldn’t be supported on the old smartwatches.
If you’ve built up a large collection of Apple Watch bands over the last couple of years, however, there’s some good news for you. The new happy news for the people owning Apple Smartwatches from previously would be able to utilize their old bands with the new larger smartwatches. The 38 mm smartwatch bands could be used with the 40 mm smartwatches & the 42 mm bands could be used with the new 44 mm smartwatches.
The Apple Watch Series 4 caught the spotlight by featuring the new ECG feature sported on the Digital Crown itself & could be used by placing one’s finger on it.

Unfortunately, the new feature was not demoed to anyone at the event because it wasn’t ready to be applied to all the smartwatches & would be updated to all the other Series 4 Watches via software update, starting from the U.S. and then onwards to other specific countries.
Better Upgrades
As one should expect the smartwatch is already enhanced in all means including the better cellular reception — made possible by the ceramic and sapphire crystal back — the processor got bumped up with the performance 2x faster than the 3rd generation smartwatch, addition of second-generation optical heart sensor, improved accelerometer and gyroscope that would enable fall detection, Bluetooth 5.0 support, and 16GB storage standard on both GPS and GPS+Cellular models.
Just like the new iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, the Series 4 Apple Watch will also be available in a new Gold color option.
