ASUS launched the much-awaited ROG Phone 5 in India and the specifications are staggering. This time ASUS launched three smartphones in the ROG Phone 5 series- ROG Phone 5, ROG Phone 5 Pro, and ROG Phone 5 Ultimate. The design of the vanilla ROG Phone 5 is the same as the previous generation ROG Phones, on the other hand, the Pro and Ultimate variant feature some flagship design changes like a PMOLED display at the back.

ASUS ROG Phone 5 Specifications

The ROG Phone 5 is powered by a flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 octa-core processor, clocked at 2.84Ghz with Adreno 660 GPU and coupled with up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 internal storage. The device runs on Android 11 out-of-the-box with custom ROG UI for ultimate gaming experience and ZenUI from ASUS.

The spec-king features a 6.78-inch Full HD+ AMOLED panel with 2,448 x 1,080 pixels resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, and 300Hz touch sampling rate. The front display is a 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass Victus with a 20.4:9 aspect ratio, HDR10+ support, in-display fingerprint scanner, and 1,200 nits of peak brightness.

As far as the camera is concerned, the ROG Phone 5 features a similar camera module as the previous generation ROG Phone 3. A triple-camera setup is featured at the back with a 64MP Sony IMX686 sensor with f/1.8 aperture, a 13MP sensor for the ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 5MP sensor for macro shots.

Upfront, a 24MP selfie shooter is housed inside the top-bezel. The smartphone doesn’t feature any sort of notch designs as it may create a distraction during intense gaming, which is the primary objective of the smartphone.

ASUS ROG Phone 5 carries a dual-cell 6,000mAh battery with 65W fast-charging support. The 6,000mAh battery is divided into two halves and each 3,000mAh cell is separated by the chipset. This allows the device to charge both the 3,000mAh cells simultaneously, thereby getting a faster charging rate.

Like the previous models, the ROG Phone 5 features RGB lighting under the ROG logo at the rear, Air Triggers 5 technology, and dual-front firing speakers. The 3.5mm headphone jack is back on the ROG devices along with a pogo pin connector for external accessories. The smartphone weighs 238 grams.

The ASUS ROG Phone 5 is priced at Rs 49,999 for the 8GB+128GB and Rs. 57,999 for the 12GB+256GB internal storage. It is offered in two color options- Phantom Black and Storm White.

Samsung’s S21 series features Snapdragon 888 chipset but it lags behind ASUS ROG Phone 5 when it comes to other specifications. Considering the price of the smartphone, ROG Phone 5 offers the best value for money.

ROG Phone 5 Pro costs Rs 69,999 for the sole 16GB+512GB storage variant. It is offered in one color option- Phantom Black.

ASUS ROG Phone 5 Ultimate Specifications

ROG Phone 5 Ultimate comes with similar core specifications with a whopping 18GB LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB UFS3.1 storage. At the rear, a customizable monochrome PMOLED display is offered.

ASUS ROG Phone 5 Ultimate

The top-end ROG Phone 5 Ultimate is priced at Rs 79,999 for the sole 18GB+512GB storage variant. It is offered in a single color variant- Storm White in a matte finish.

Considering the gaming objective of ROG Phone 5, it will give a tough competition to Nubia Red Magic 6 series, which was recently launched in China. The smartphone featured Snapdragon 888 chipset with a 165Hz refresh rate display.

However, the India launch of the Red Magic 6 is still uncertain. It will be an interesting rivalry between the two spec-giants in the global smartphone market.
