Micromax depleting brands in india

According to CyberMedia Research Micromax, Intex, Karbonn, HTC, and Gionee are the fastest depleting smartphone brands in India, Q2 2018. The CMR report on Wednesday told Xiaomi sold nearly 37 percent of the phones that were replaced.

Findings showed the following brands as the fastest depleting Smartphone Brands in India – Micromax (41.2 %), Intex (11.6 %), HTC (5.5 %), Karbonn (5.3 %) and Gionee (4.7%). “Customer stickiness is the paramount concern that homegrown brands need to address immediately,” said Kanika Jain, Manager, New Initiatives, CMR”. Consumers continue to swap their existing Smartphones with the new ones offered by Chinese brands resulting in fast erosion of total installed base of the local Indian brands,” she also added.

The report attributes development in the smartphone range of up to Rs 4,000. It believes it is a result of growing competition by the introduction of fusion phones in the market. The report revealed that Xiaomi added 36.9% devices in Q2, 2018, followed by Vivo, Oppo, itel and Huawei’s Honor. It demonstrates the dominance of Chinese brands in the Indian market, as a result, local brands struggle.

The report analyzed over 200 million users across the country. Furthermore, it identifies that the replacement market continues to grow in the country. In the second quarter of 2018, nearly 59 % smartphones sold were actually upgrades/replacements of existing smartphones. The depleting brands need to focus on the leftover 41% which is where the smartphone market is growing.
