A new crash text is in circulation which will crash your WhatsApp every time you open the app and will also freeze your phone.

As we always keep talking about security in the messaging apps, WhatsApp has once again been targeted by some hackers/ nuisance creators in Brazil.

WABeta info tweeted about what new WhatsApp feature users would like to see. To their surprise, they received something opposite.

A user came out on twitter with the screenshots and messages which he received in an anonymous group. The message contained a list  of special characters and numbers randomly arranged.

He also said that “Anti-crash integrated into official WhatsApp: There are messages designed to freeze or crash your WhatsApp. Then there are modded WhatsApp versions that have a ‘Crashcode protection’ like a bigger Unicode database. We need this integrated into the official application.”

To this WaBetaInfo replied that they have already raised this issue weeks ago. They further explained that such things are called “Crashers”, “Trava Zap, or “Binario.” How these messages lead to crashing your Whatsapp and device is a more complicated thing to explain.

As we said above, this thing started in Brazil. It is slowly spreading in other regions globally. There is no official statement or response by WhatsApp on this.

So what you can do to keep your WhatsApp safe is not to open any text from unknown contacts or members. Also, you should go to your settings, click on Privacy, then click on Groups and change “Who can add me to groups” from ‘Everyone’ to ‘My Contacts’. This will not allow random people to add you to any group.

For now, this is all you can do. And if your WhatsApp is not updated, make sure to update it. Using the updated version of any app or tech is the best thing to do as it contains extra security patches that were missing in the last update or so.
