Google Pixel 3

Google’s website has confirmed the name of a new product for the second time in the last few days. In the recent case, the confirmation came for the long-rumored Google Pixel “Lite” variants. According to the Google Play webpage, the new watered-down version of Pixel 3 will be called Pixel 3a.

Google has already taken down the page showing the new phone, nevertheless, it has already been widely reported in the tech market. Not that this information held any weight other than an official confirmation from the company regarding the name of the device. Apart from that, there have already been leaks and rumors regarding the Pixel 3a, including its key specifications. Moreover, 9to5Google reports that the website also showed references to the previously leaked Nest Hub Max as well as Nest Hub, before it was taken down.

As for the new Pixel phone product page or a new “Pixel Compare” page, they are not live as of now, so the webpage has only confirmed the name of the device.

Notwithstanding, the name of the device was the only official confirmation needed as earlier today a Redditor hauled a collection of data from Google’s own Play console, which featured probably the entire spec sheet of both the lighter models of Pixel 3, codenamed  “bonito” and “sargo.” The two devices are expected to come with 5.6-inch and 6.0-inch displays with 1080p OLED displays, Snapdragon 670 processors, 12-megapixel rear cameras. There is also a possibility of a 3.5mm headphone jack in at least one of these phones, according to the photos that leaked by Russian tech blog Rozetked last November. The name Pixel 3a XL also appeared in Android Q’s beta code, as spotted by XDADeelopers.

The interesting part about the leaks is that the smartphones were listed as “midyear experiences,” suggesting the devices would be released earlier this year rather than being a part of Google’s usual release that takes place in October. The devices might as well show up at the Google I/O conference that is slated to take place from May 7th.

Google changing its product pages, which typically gets to be the last step before a launch, suggests that an announcement is imminent.
