Google is all set to expand its Pixel smartphone lineup by adding the new Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL, both of which have been slated to release on May 7 and ahead of the official announcement, e-commerce website, Flipkart, has started teasing the arrival of these phones on its platform. Flipkart has put up a teaser webpage which promises to reveal more details on May 8, which falls exactly after the Google I/O keynote as per the Indian time. The teaser does not reveal anything about the phones or their pricing.
Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL have long been anticipated for a long time now and the teaser microsite from Flipkart confirms the imminent release of the smartphones. While the teaser image does not reveal anything significant, it could be safe to assume that India will most likely be among the first countries receiving the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL, especially since the phones are expected to be mid-range devices with comparatively affordable price tags.
Flipkart is also teasing that the smartphones will be available in India through its platform, among other platforms. As per the new rules around e-commerce businesses, Flipkart cannot be an exclusive sales partner for Google, therefore if the availability of the Pixel phones, users can expect the devices to be available through brick-and-mortar chains like Reliance Digital, Croma, Poorvika, Bajaj Electronics, and Vijay Sales.
Flipkart updated its teaser page hours after Google confirmed that it will be bringing new hardware products to its keynote at the Google I/O on May 7. While the company did not specifically mention Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL, the smartphones are being teased by the company’s online store as well as other platforms, indicating the launch of the new smartphones. Google will also be detailing Android Q at the same keynote.
The Pixel 3 is speculated to come with a 5.6-inch full-HD+ (1080×2220 pixels) screen, the Pixel 3a XL, on the other hand, is rumored to come with a 6-inch full-HD+ (1080×2160 pixels) screen.
While the Pixel 3a will draw its power from Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 SoC, the Pixel 3a XL will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor. Both the smartphones are expected to come with 4GB of RAM and at least 64GB of internal storage.
We will hear more about the availability and pricing of the new Pixel smartphones in India during the Google keynote and later via Flipkart. Google keynote starts at 10am PDT (10:30pm IST May 7) and ends at 11:30am PDT (12:00am IST, May 8).
