Huawei released an official invite on Friday for the company’s MWC event through Twitter. The event from Huawei will take place on February 24 at 2 P.M CET (6:30 P.M IST) at Barcelona. The Chinese company is expected to showcase its 5G foldable phone at the event. Other leading manufacturers like Samsung, LG, and Xiaomi are working on their version of foldable smartphones. Huawei’s event at MWC will take place 4 days after the Samsung Unpacked event where the South-Korean company is expected to release its S10-lineup along with its foldable smartphone which is dubbed as Galaxy F.
The tweet from Huawei reads “Come with us to explore #connectingthefuture live from #MWC. Are you ready to reveal the unprecedented?” The company does not reveal, however, the device it will be launching but based on previous rumors and speculations we could assume that Huawei will be taking the wraps off its foldable smartphone.

Last year, Huawei’s patent filing had thrown some lights on the company’s foldable smartphone design. The tech website LetsGoDigital then developed a 3D render of the device to get a better view of the device. According to the images, the device will have a typical phone-like form factor, which when unfolded will turn into a tab-like device. The folding mechanism will compromise of a soft supporting structure in order to provide a smooth transition.
Some other reports suggest that the device will have an 8-inch screen when unfolded and a 5-inch screen when folded. As to other specifications of the device, there is no word from the company. Huawei has been working on its foldable device for a year now and it might finally reveal the smartphone in the upcoming event.
Interestingly, Samsung is also expected to unveil its foldable smartphone 4 days before the MWC event. Samsung has already rolled out invites for its Unpacked event that is scheduled to be held on February 20 in San Francisco. The company will also launch its Galaxy S10-lineup in the event which compromises of Galaxy S10, galaxy S10+, and the Galaxy S10 Lite.
