Huawei P30 Pro leaked renders have surfaced online and it shows that the device will come with four rear-mounted cameras. A recently released teaser also hinted at the device featuring a 10x optical zoom. Huawei’s Vice President of Global Product Marketing, Clement Wong has confirmed that the P30 Pro will be coming with a periscope-style zoom camera that will offer “super-zoom” capabilities.

To recall, the Huawei P20 Pro featured a 3x optical zoom and 5x hybrid zoom. Wong did not detail the exact zooming capabilities of the P30 Pro, nevertheless, it is expected to come with 10x optical zoom. Last week, Huawei CEO Richard Yu had shared an image of the moon that was captured using the camera on the P30 Pro. According to Wong, the shot was captured handheld with no external help like a tripod.

The renders of the P30 Pro show that the smartphone sports a triple camera module on the top left corner of the back panel. There is a 3D ToF camera sensor alongside the triple camera module as well as laser autofocus and dual LED flash. It is being speculated that the periscope camera would be the third one which has a squared finish to it, unlike other round sensors. Describing the photography prowess of the P30 Pro, Wong stated that it will offer “something nobody has done before.”

Huawei P20 Pro was accredited for its low-light photography capabilities. Wong has confirmed that the P30 Pro will also offer enhanced low-light photography experience. Smartphones like Google Pixel, which has an impressive record in low-light photography, use software-based algorithms to produce high-quality low-light images. However, Wong has said that the P30 Pro’s night mode will be better than the software-only approach of competitors. This suggests that P30 Pro will be equipped with unique optical hardware.

Wong did not get into the specifications of the camera, nevertheless, it goes without saying that P30 Pro will sport flagship level cameras like its predecessor. Reputed tipster Evan Blass had claimed in December that the P30 will deliver 40-megapixel maximum resolution and 5x lossless zoom.

Huawei P30 and P30 Pro are expected to go on sale on March 26.  Both phones will be equipped with OLED displays, Kirin 980 SoC, 40W fast charging (P30 Pro) technology and more.
