Huawei has rolled out media invites for the smartphone launch event on January 7. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer will launch its Y9 smartphone in the event. Huawei announced Y9 in October first and the phone has finally been scheduled to launch on January 7. The phone had been teased on Amazon lately and now with the upcoming event, the availability and the price of the phone will be confirmed. The smartphone will be exclusively available at Amazon.

The specifications of Y9 had been revealed during the announcement. Some of the key features of the phone include a 6.25-inch screen with a notch, dual rear, and front cameras, 4000 mAh battery and more.

With the recent media invite from Huawei, it is confirmed that the phone will be launching on 7 January. The prices and availability will be announced it the event itself.

The Huawei Y9 is powered by Kirin 710 SoC and runs on Huawei’s custom skin EMUI 8.2 based on Android Oreo 8.1. It packs dual vertically aligned cameras at the back as well as two cameras on the front. The phone comes in two variants, 3GB RAM with 32GB of internal storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage. Y9 also sports a 6.25-inch Fullview display with a 3D curved design on the edges.

In terms of camera, Y9 house 4 cameras, two in the front and two on the back panel. The camera setup on the back comes with a 13-megapixel main sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a 2-megapixel depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The front camera setup with a 16-megapixel main sensor with f/1.0 aperture and another 2-megapixel sensor with f/2.4 aperture. Both the camera setups are claimed to be AI-powered.

Y9 comes with fingerprint 4.0 identification technology which the company claims unlocks the device in 0.3 seconds. The upgraded fingerprint reader also allows users to manage all the notifications with one key. The phone packs 4000 mAh battery and connectivity options include WiFi, Bluetooth, Micro-USB, and GPS / AGPS / Glonass.

The sensors on the phone include fingerprint sensor, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, digital compass, gravity sensor, and gyroscope.
