Korea’s ET News has recently reported that LG will supply Mini-LED displays to Apple for the new iPad models expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2021. The report says that LG might start mass production of the displays at the end of 2020.

Mini-LED backlighting offers the same benefits like OLED displays which includes higher brightness, enhanced contrast ratio and increased power efficiency.

Rumors about the Mini-LED iPad Pro has been doing rounds over the internet. In the month of June, leaker LOvetodream said that Apple plans to launch new iPad Pro models with an A14X chip, 5G and Mini-LED display in the first quarter of 2021. Other sources have claimed that this iPad Pro will be a 12.9-inch model.

Last time, Apple refreshed the iPad Pro in the month of March and was a minor update with new features that included an A12Z Bionic chip which is most importantly an A12X chip with extra GPU core, Ultra Wide camera which can enable 0.5x zoom, LiDAR Scanner for enhanced augmented reality and improved sounding microphones. It was the first update for iPad Pro since the device got a major redesign in October 2018.

The recently released report also claims that Apple has plans to use Mini-LED displays for the future MacBook and iMac models.
