iPhone 12 might have to go through a lot of trouble to prove its worth. The durability test is the latest experiment which compares the toughness of iPhone 12 coated with new ceramic shield against iPhone 11. iPhone 12 is well constructed to withstand pressure compared to iPhone 11. The difference in the amount of pressure taken by both devices before getting cracked is quite impressive.

During the test of MobileReviewsEh, a force meter was used to determine the pressure required to crack the display. iPhone 11 went through this at first and broke 352 Newtons of pressure. iPhone 12 was marked more tough when it took 443 Newtons before being caved in. The spider webbing or pattern of crack on the screen was much more fine on iPhone 12 despite getting cracked at a high pressure.

The video compared iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 on the basis of the promise claimed about scratch resistance. They were put on a test that was based on the principle of Mohs Scale of Mineral Hardness that involves a scratch kit to determine the materials that can scratch the substance and accordingly rate it. It is used by electronic manufacturers to test other screens like LCD and OLED panels of TVs. It has been used on smartphones to test the toughness of Corning Gorilla Glass which comes as a protection of mobile screens.

iPhone 11 scratched lightly at point 6 and point 7. iPhone 12 stood at the 6th point without scratches and scratched faintly at point 7 proving it to be scratch-resistant than iPhone 11. The material of point 8 left deep and clear visible marks on both the phones. The video noted that the iPhone 12’s aluminium sides were better at preventing scratches from coins and keys than glossier stainless-steel sides of iPhone 12 Pro and was at par with iPhone 11. The glass panel at the back of iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 scratched at point 7 and the sapphire crystal coating at their camera lenses was scratched at point 8. The ceramic coating of iPhone 12 makes the screen more tough and scratch-resistant than iPhone 11 and the rest of the materials resists scratches as well as iPhone 11 but not better.

The lineup of iPhone 12 starts with iPhone 12 Mini priced at Rs.69,900 and goes up to iPhone 12 Pro Max priced at Rs.1,29,900 starting with 128GB variant. The phones can be pre-ordered from 6th November and will be available from 13th November. iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro priced at Rs.79,900 and Rs.1,19,900 can be now pre-ordered and will be available from 30th October.
