JioPhone 3 Concept

The JioPhone from Reliance Jio was a 4G feature phone running on KaiOS. The phone had a candy bar design with alphanumeric keys and a 2.4-inch color display. The phone was followed by JioPhone 2 which ran on the same OS and had the same design but packed a physical QWERTY keypad. Now, various reports suggest that the upcoming JioPhone 3 will have a touch-capacitive screen.

According to a company executive who decided to remain anonymous, the JioPhone 3 will have a 5-inch touch screen, 2GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. There is no information about the OS or the processor, nevertheless, Android seems to be the primary option. The camera on the device is also said to be upgraded with the JioPhone 3 sporting a 5-megapixel rear camera along with a 2-megapixel front shooter.

The upgraded JioPhone will come with a fresher price tag too. The device is said to be coming in with a price tag of ₹4500. This is three times the price of the original JioPhone that was launched back in 2017. The JioPhone 2, which was launched last year, was priced at ₹2,999.

The JioPhone 3 is reported to launch in June with pre-orders starting from July. The device is slated to be sold in August.

It was reported last year that Jio was working on a full-screen touch display smartphone. One of the companies it is said to be working with is Flex Ltd., a US-based original design manufacturer (ODM).

Recently Reliance Jio has announced the launch of JioRail app on JioStore that lets users book or cancel train tickets, view ticket history and check PNR status. Jio has made the app in a collaboration with Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) which makes the app a gateway for the IRCTC train booking service.
