Livongo is a digital health platform mainly developed for people with chronic conditions like diabetes. It is now available for wearables also. The company made an announcement on Wednesday saying,” it is integrating with a number of major smartwatches, including Fibit, Apple Watch and Samsung’s Gear smartwatch. Patients will be able to receive reminders to check their blood sugar, “nudges” to improve diet and exercise habits and other health information right on their wrist. Livongo Members can now connect their smartwatches to the Livongo mobile app to receive real-time Livongo notifications on the surface of their choice enabling Livongo to provide more timely and relevant information to Members and their care teams.”

“Our smartwatch integration allows us to capture information from our Members, add it to our AI+AI engine, and return actionable, personalized, and timely information back to them,” said Livongo president Dr. Jennifer Schneider in a statement.

Fitbit’s general manager of health solutions Adam Pellegrini, noted that the integration with Livongo’s app is about driving better health outcomes and behavior change — and that moves both companies beyond activity tracking. “(It) underscores the growing role that wearables and Fitbit devices play in the management of chronic conditions,” he explained.

The company is reportedly also rolling out a five-day health challenges for users, which Kendale says is typically enough time to trigger behavioral changes.
