Motorola has launched Moto Edge S Pioneer Edition in China. The new smartphone is essentially a new color variant of vanilla Moto Edge S, which was launched in January, with a cheaper price tag. The smartphone is powered by Snapdragon 870 5G chipset and features a quad-camera setup at the rear.

Motorola Edge S Pioneer Edition Specifications

Motorola Edge S Pioneer Edition is powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 870G 5G SoC as the existing Motorola Edge S, coupled with Qualcomm Adreno 650 GPU. The processor is backed by up to 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage. The smartphone runs on Android 11 out-of-the-box with Moto’s custom MyUI on top.

Coming to the display, the device features a 6.7-inch Full-HD+ IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,520 pixels and a 90Hz fast refresh rate. The display has an aspect ratio of 21:9 and HDR10 support. The display has very thin and almost equal bezels on the edges as well as at the chin. It carries two punch holes at the top left corner for the front cameras.

As for the cameras, the phone sports a quad-camera setup at the rear with a 64MP primary sensor with an f/1.7 lens, a 16MP sensor for ultra-wide-angle shots as well as macro shots, a 2MP sensor for depth sensing, and a TOF (Time of Flight) sensor. At the front, a 16MP primary sensor is accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor for selfies and video calls.

The mobile phone packs a 5,000mAh battery with 20W fast charging support. It ships with IP52-rating for splash resistance and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Connectivity options like 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, a USB Type-C port for charging, and a 3.5mm headphone jack are on offer. 

Motorola Edge S Pioneer Edition Price

Motorola Edge S Pioneer Edition comes with a single Grey color scheme. It is priced at CNY 1,999 (Rs. 22,600) for the sole 8GB RAM + 128GB storage model in China. Motorola Edge S is also available in two other options- Emerald Light and Mist, which start from CNY 1,999 for 6GB RAM + 128GB storage model. The latest addition to the Moto Edge S series is already up for grabs in China.

Alternative

Considering the price range, it will compete with Xiaomi Mi 10T, which is powered by Snapdragon 865 5G SoC and features a 144Hz IPS display, a 64MP triple-camera setup, and a 5,000mAh battery with fast charging support, priced at Rs. 24,898 for the 6GB RAM variant.
