The Mobile World Congress saw the major smartphone manufacturers including LG, Huawei, Xiaomi, ZTE, and OnePlus revealing their 5G smartphones. While some of the devices were prototypes, others were a full-fledged version of the 5G-ready smartphones. Now, Lenovo, too, has registered its name in the list of OEMs bringing 5G smartphones to the market. The company was expected to reveal its Z6 smartphone at MWC, however, it only showcased a glimpse of the upcoming flagship.

Edward Chang, the vice president of Lenovo, offered a sneak peek into the company’s plan for its Z6 smartphone and the future of 5G networks. Chang talked about how 5G cellular network will lay the ground for the high-resolution videos and photos that will take over the Web in the next few years.

Chang revealed that Lenovo Z6 will support 5G networks and will feature a new ‘HyperVision’ camera that will be capable of capturing ‘Hyper Videos’. Lenovo did not detail the components of such videos but said further information will follow shortly.

Chang added that 4G videos are transferred at 100Mbps-1Gbps network rates, future ‘Hyper Videos’, however, will be transferred at 10Gbps and above rates.

According to Chang, the Lenovo Z6 will offer next-gen camera technology. He added that the company has been working on its Hyper Video cameras for some time now and the technology will ship with Lenovo Z6 Pro around June this year. The phone is expected to be released in China first. While talking about the Hyper Video technology, Chang mentioned the Nokia 9 PureView and unnamed upcoming phone with a high-resolution camera sensor.

The presentation did not reveal any other specification and pricing of the device, nevertheless, Chang hinted at revealing more information about the upcoming phone’s camera in the near future.
