Nubia has recently launched its next generation of gaming smartphones- Red Magic 6 and Red Magic 6 Pro in China. The smartphones come with flagship features like Snapdragon 888 SoC, 165Hz refresh rate, multiple shoulder buttons, and many more.
Nubia Red Magic 6 Specifications
Red Magic 6 is powered by a flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 octa-core processor with Adreno 660 GPU and paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage. The device runs on Android 11 out-of-the-box with RedMagic OS 4.0 on top.
A 6.8-inch Full HD+ AMOLED with a resolution of 1,080×2,400 pixels, 165Hz refresh rate, 500Hz single finger touch sampling rate, and 360Hz multi-finger touch sampling rate. It offers a 91.28 percent screen-to-body ratio and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut. The display comes with SGS(Société Générale de Surveillance) certification for high brush low smear and low blue light eye care. The display has a contrast of 1,000,000:1 ratio.
As far as the camera is concerned, Red Magic 6 sports a triple-camera setup at the rear with a 64MP primary sensor, an 8MP sensor for the ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2MP sensor for macro shots. Upfront, an 8MP selfie shooter is placed in the top bezel, as a result, there is neither notch nor punch-hole cut-out.
Nubia calls the design of the Red Magic 6 series Mecha Sci-Fi. At the rear, the smartphones feature a carbon fiber texture with the Red Magic and Tencent logo. The Red Magic logo lights up. For gaming, the Red Magic series offers two shoulder IC-touch buttons on the right side.
To keep the device cool, Nubia has provided the Red Magic 6 series with an advanced and powerful ICE 6.0 multi-dimensional cooling system, which includes superconducting copper foil, AI temperature sensors(13 in total), 18,000 rpm centrifugal fan, cooling Canyon Air Duct, Graphene, and VC heat sink. Red Magic 6 series also offers dual stereo speakers with Qualcomm Aptx and DTS X Ultra support.
Red Magic 6 carries a 5,050mAh battery with 66W fast-charging support. An in-display fingerprint scanner is built into the display. It offers a 3.5mm headphone jack, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, and multi-mode wireless projection to TV up to a resolution of 1,080p at 165fps.
Red Magic 6 is priced at CNY 3,799 (Rs. 42,700) for the 8GB + 128GB variant and the 12GB + 128GB variant costs CNY 4,099 (Rs. 46,000). Red Magic 6 is offered in two colour options- Carbon Fiber Black and Cyber Neon. Carbon Fiber Black colour option is available with 8GB+128GB and 12GB+128GB storage options.
The Cyber Neon colour option is offered in 12GB+128GB option(costs same as the Carbon Fiber Black variant) and another top-of-the-line 12GB+256GB storage option, which is priced at CNY 4,399 (Rs. 49,500).
Nubia Red Magic 6 Pro Specifications
The specifications and features offered in Red Magic 6 Pro are pretty much similar to Red Magic 6 with minute differences. The battery offered in the Pro variant is smaller 4,500mAh but it supports 120W fast-charging. for extra cooling, Red Magic 6 Pro comes with a 20,000rpm centrifugal fan and extra 7 Aviation-grade cooling ice plates. It is offered in a transparent back option.
The Red Magic 6 Pro is offered in two colour options- Black Iron and Ice Blade Silver. It is priced at CNY 4,399 (Rs 49,550) for the 12GB+128GB storage option, CNY 4,799 (Rs. 54,000) for the 12GB + 256GB variant, and CNY 5,299 (Rs. 59,600) for the 16GB + 256GB variant.
Red Magic 6 Pro is offered in a transparent back option, which is priced at CNY 5,599 (Rs. 63,000) for the 16GB + 256GB model and CNY 6,599 (Rs. 74,200) for the 18GB + 512GB model.
Red Magic 6 series is only available for registration and will hit the market on March 11 in China. The firm has clarified that the device will make a global debut very soon.
The gaming smartphone segment is currently dominated by ASUS ROG Phones. ASUS will release its next-generation ROG Phone 5 next week. It will be an interesting rivalry between the spec-giants. Previous generation Red Magic phones were not released in India, we have to wait for the official statement from Nubia regarding the India release of the smartphones.
