Qualcomm has already sent invitations for the Snapdragon event that will take place on 1st and 2nd December. Current information say that the event will reveal the Snapdragon 875 which is a 5nm chip and would be the first to use the new high performance Cortex-X1 core.

DigiTimes has reported that the chip makers have planned to reveal their own gaming smartphone before the end of 2020.

The phone would be co-developed with Asus, though detailed information is not yet available regarding the phone. Normally, Qualcomm makes reference design boards and those are actually benchmark machines meant to show the skills of the latest updates.

Asus has experience with elements which make a gaming phone like what it should be – a high refresh rate display, beefed up cooling, larger battery, potentially custom controls and more. The phone would benefit from Republic of Gamers branding.

The partnership was initiated before Nvidia announced about their acquisition of arm and now it seems more important. Sources say that GPU maker would drop Mali in favour of their own designs that come with the GeForce branding. Qualcomm will earn huge profits from a gaming phone that would promote the competing Adreno series of GPUs.
